Association of Business Psychologists Annual Conference

Reading UK

Doing More With Less

The Association of Business Psychologists annual conference is the key annual event for business psychologists. I was delighted to be asked to present, joining other speakers from the NHS, HMRC, Capita, TMP Worldwide and other leading organisations. The conference had more than 30 expert sessions from a range of leading organisations speaking on ‘delivering more with less’. I presented a paper titled, It’s All About You.

Most independent consultants and small businesses just don’t have the budgets to commit to advertising and it’s increasingly hard to justify the spend. I argued that my audience were in a prime position to use their ‘self’ to communicate their services, their unique proposition and to engage with potential clients in innovative ways. Who better than a psychologist to understand new marketing channels and to communicate with authenticity? Who better than yourself to understand the requirements and nuances of online interaction and bring in new business? The challenge is not really in using the tools, it’s in believing and knowing that you have something to say, that you can be yourself and knowing that new opportunities will present themselves if you put your self out there.

It’s all about you now. Are you prepared to give it a try? #itsallaboutyounow
